I had an interview experience for a position in IT Sourcing. After the first round with HR, I felt good and looked forward to the phone call from the hiring manager. She didn't call at the agreed time. HR apologized later and set up another time. The hiring manager didn't call 2nd time. HR called the following week and apologized and set up the 3rd time. I started to wondering if I'm going to report to a manager who played no-show twice. Don't they know that they represent the company before a customer, who happens to be an interviewee?Ok, she called me 10 minutes after the agreed interview time. The first question was if HP told me that this position is for a software sourcing only position. I said now I know from you the first time. Although I represent myself experienced in both hardware and software sourcing, she sounded uninterested and looking only for someone has years' of dedicated software sourcing background. Sorry, your HR didn't send the clear msg. and both sides felt carrying on the talk just for being professional. Before the call ended, I asked her if Gap provides the opportunity that people can develop into different areas. She started to bragging how she worked in stores, material purchasing, and other positions, and how she was just started the IT sourcing two years ago. Hey, she's barely qualified for her own position based on the requirement given to me 10 minutes ago.
I feel I won't be happy to report to such a personality even if I got the offer. To me, Gap just sounds like another manufacturing company which happens to push the clothing volume. What surprised the most is the lack of awareness that their candidates are very likely to be their customers. Two no shows and 10 minutes late finally, hey, how would a customer feel?
I met Tracy in 2006 when I joined Gap Inc.’s Retail Management Program directly out of college. Cultural and presentation skills that eventually prepared me to interview for the role of my. The process took a week. I interviewed at Gap (San Francisco, CA (US)) in September 2010. I had a first round interview.
